Newborns

This department includes two departments: neonatal and ICU (neonatal intensive care). This department is specifically for the hospitalization of newborns aged 1 to 30 days. In the neonatal ICU, newborns who need special care are cared for. In the neonatal department, the following services are provided:

Phototherapy, blood exchange, vaccination, newborn screening, audiometry, breastfeeding education for mothers by a breastfeeding expert, health care education for newborns, 24-hour response to mothers' problems. A pediatrician and neonatologist is resident in the department 24 hours a day. A separate room is provided for the accommodation of mothers of newborns admitted to the department.

Screening for congenital diseases of newborns is performed in the delivery room and neonatal department based on the national screening program. A list of screening centers throughout Tehran is available in the neonatal department.

Newborn vaccination is performed in this department based on the national vaccination program.
